Shower and tub spout repair in Alhambra
Showers fail in three spots: the head, the arm where it leaves the wall, and the tub spout below. Tell us which one, or send a photo, at (310) 628-9399.
The head
At 240 ppm, Alhambra water crusts over spray holes until the stream turns spiky and lopsided. Rubber-tipped nozzles can be rubbed clean; older metal faces usually cannot.
When a new head makes sense, a WaterSense model is limited to 2.0 gallons per minute and has to pass spray force and coverage tests (EPA).
The arm
Water seeping around the wall flange while the shower runs usually means the arm threads have lost their seal. We remove the arm, clean the threads and reseal or replace it.
The spout
Pull up the diverter knob and the spout should go quiet. If it keeps pouring, the gate inside is worn. The fix is a new spout matched to whatever comes out of the wall: a threaded pipe nipple in many older homes, a smooth copper stub with a set screw in newer ones.
A drip that will not quit
A steady drip from the head with the handle off comes from the valve behind the wall. The cartridge or washer depends on the valve brand, so a photo of the handle and trim plate is the best start.

Alhambra questions, answered
Will a new shower head lower my pressure?
It limits flow, but a well-designed head still feels strong. Many people notice no difference.
Is opening the wall needed for a spout?
Rarely. Spouts attach to the pipe already coming through the wall.
